The mission of Bronx Independent Living Services (BILS), a not-for-profit, community-based organization, is to provide individuals with all types of disabilities the resources and skills needed to take control of their own lives.  It is our goal to do this through educating people about their civil and human rights, and by providing access to the tools necessary to exercise those rights.  We also advocate for community change by working to remove architectural, communication, and attitudinal barriers that have, for too long, 'handicapped' people with disabilities.

The following programs are available to all disabled persons:  Peer Counseling; Information and Referral; Personal Advocacy; Crime Victims and Domestic Violence Services; and Systems Advocacy.
